The First Full Ceramic Execution of Genta's Ingenieur
This reference shares the same design lineage as the 40mm Automatic, Gerald Genta's Ingenieur SL, reference 1832, from the 1970s, scaled here to a 42mm case and executed entirely in black zirconium oxide ceramic for the first time. The case ring, bezel, case back ring, crown, and integrated bracelet are all in the same ceramic, a material that ranks among the hardest on earth and can only be machined with diamond tipped tools through a multi-stage satin, sandblast, and polish finish. The black Grid dial carries Genta's signature texture, with Super-LumiNova filled hands and markers for legibility. Inside sits the IWC-manufactured caliber 82110 with Pellaton winding and a 60 hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire exhibition case back. The case delivers 100 meter water resistance despite the ceramic construction, aided by an internal titanium ring supporting the movement and functional screws. Produced in 2025, this example comes complete with its original box and papers.
This is Genta's Ingenieur architecture pushed into a material IWC has never used for the full case and bracelet before, not a discontinued or superseded execution but the brand's current statement piece in the line.
