Tudor Heritage Black Bay "Smiley" 41MM Red Bezel, Ref. 79220R with B&P
Tudor Heritage Black Bay "Smiley" 41MM Red Bezel, Ref. 79220R with B&P
Condition: Very good, pre-owned condition and running very strong.
Contents: Double-boxed, booklets, red hang tag, 2015 warranty card and aftermarket black rubber strap and deployment buckle.
The Original Black Bay, in the Rarest Configuration
The Tudor Heritage Black Bay 79220R is where the entire Black Bay story begins. Introduced in 2012 and now discontinued, this is the first-generation Black Bay powered by the ETA Caliber 2824, predating Tudor's in-house movement era and giving this reference a distinct layer of early-collector significance. The 79220R is the red bezel variant, inspired by a never-produced 1970s Tudor Submariner prototype, making the burgundy-red colorway one of the most historically grounded details in modern Tudor's catalog. The iconic "Smiley" dial configuration, black matte surface with rose-gold snowflake hands and luminous applied markers, is the reference that launched the Black Bay collector segment. At 41mm in stainless steel with a domed sapphire crystal, screw-down oversized crown with red crown tube, and 200-meter water resistance, this is a complete tool watch with genuine heritage behind it. This example presents in exceptional condition and accompanied by its full set including original Tudor box, warranty card, and booklets. Note: watch is presented on an aftermarket rubber strap consistent with the factory strap delivery configuration confirmed on the warranty card; OEM strap is not included.
The 79220R is discontinued and full-set US examples are exceptionally scarce. For a collector who wants the watch that started it all, this is the one.
